Armond
Armstead is a player that we have followed very
closely over the last couple of months. Armstead recently
had a chance to showcase his talent at the NIKE combine
this past weekend. Armstead made a statement by winning
MVP of the NIKE combine.
"It was a good experience. I was a bit
nervous about going up against the top talent but once I
got out there, I felt at home," said Armstead. Armstead
dominated the one on ones and has hit the recruiting radar
full speed. Many recruiting gurus are calling him the
number one prospect in Northern California now.
"I was already used to the drills. My trainer Greg
prepared me well. Armstead did particularly well in the
one on ones, dominating top prospect
Allen Carroll. "It was good to go up against him. He
pushed me to my limits and brought the best out of me,"
said Armstead. Carroll and Armstead went at it several
times. There was an incident where Carroll began talking
smack to Armstead. Armstead than quickly lined up and
finished Carroll off with a swift move to the inside.
Armstead used the NIKE combine to measure himself against
the other top prospects. Armstead shocked the world and
many scouts across the county, but yet this talented
prospect remains humble. "I know I could have done better.
They haven't saw the best of Mondo yet," he said.
"I went with the defensive ends. I measured in at 6'5 and
almost 280 pounds," said Armstead. He continues to work
out with his father and trainer Greg. "I will play some
basketball this summer but the primary focus will be on
football."
Armstead was one of the biggest sleepers at the NIKE
combine but his performance has woken everybody up. "I saw
Tennessee taking some notes and Cal was also there," he
said. He still remains high on Washington and they are one
of his leaders. It is rumored that there will be an offer
coming soon from Washington. We will keep you updated on
the hottest prospect in Northern California.
