Armond Armstead is one of the most coveted prospects on the west coast. His stock continues to soar and the Huskies are in hot pursuit. Armond was able to attend Junior Day at the University of Washington along with his father Gus Armstead. The Armsteads shared their junior day experience with us.

"Washington is definitely a top choice, if not the top choice," said Gus Armstead. "We really enjoyed meeting with all of the coaches. Coach Randy Hart has been there for over twenty years. We were really impressed," he said.

Armond is an intriguing prospect.

At only the age 16, Armond is 6-foot-6 and still growing. "Washington is fine with Armond playing offense or defense. Armond has so much potential. He will be entering college at the age of 17," said Gus Armstead.

"Armond is great on defense because he is a physical player. Offensively, he reminds me of Alge Crumpler. He is a big target who can block and catch," said Gus Armstead, who is a professional trainer and fitness guru. He trains Armond and many other professional athletes.

The Armsteads also have ties to the Washington Area. "Sonics guard Mike Wilks is family. He attended Junior Day with us," said Gus Armstead. Armond is also being recruited as a talented basketball player andis balancing his football regimen while also playing AAU basketball

The family said that they had a wonderful time at the University of Washington this weekend. Armond is definitely interested in the University of Washington. "I had a good trip this weekend. Everything went well and we were able to talk with many coaches," he said.

Armond continues to receive interest from Arizona, Cal, UCLA, and Washington. The Armsteads will continue to make trips to other junior days though they were impressed with Washington. Armond currently has an offer from San Diego State and rumor has it that many more are on the way.

He is also preparing for the NIKE combine in Stanford. "I have been working on all the drills they will be testing me on. I am working on conditioning so that I can go 100 percent every play. Other things I am working on are power, agility and technique," said Armond.
